Christian author Karen Kingsbury plans to host a four-day beach party with special guests Duck Dynasty's Sadie and Korie Robertson, American Idol contestants Colton and Schyler Dixon, Christian recording artist Matthew West, and more at Tradewinds Resort this October. Registration is open to anyone who wants to attend, and proceeds from the event will go to Kingsbury's One Chance Foundation, which helps orphans find permanent families.
Karen Kingsbury is a "New York Times" bestselling author who has written more than 50 novels, with over 20 million copies of Christian fiction in print. Kingsbury loves to spend time with her readers, and holds free book-signing events across the country to meet with them. She also speaks at Christian events, and is planning to host a beach party this Fall. "I wanted to do a KK BEACH PARTY instead of a cruise! I was tired of the ports and the long waits to get on and off the ship," Kingsbury told fans on a recent Facebook Q&A session - "So this way we will have a beautiful time together and stay on one gorgeous beach."
The event will take place at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida on October 25-28. Twenty acres of white sand, private beach cabanas, plenty of time for reading or for scuba diving and parasailing should make for an amazing vacation, along with Christian speakers and worship services scheduled throughout the weekend. Kingsbury is scheduled to speak throughout the event, on topics such as "Restore, Renew, Reset - Clean Body, Clean Mind, Strong Soul" and "One Chance to Live an Extraordinary Life." Guest speakers and musicians include Duck Dynasty's Korie and Sadie Robertson, Grammy-nominated Christian artist Matthew West, and Colton and Schyler Dixon, among others.
The Robertson women will discuss "Faith and Family in Today's World," on Saturday evening, and Sadie will do an additional Q&A panel with Kingsbury's daughter on "Living out Your Faith." They will also do a meet-and-greet with attendees. It is unconfirmed whether any other members of the Robertson family will join them.
Colton Dixon and his sister Schyler auditioned for American Idol two years in a row, with Colton proceeding to the top seven finalists of Season Eleven. His unique sound and passion for the Lord was evident in his song choices throughout the competition, and he has since released a debut album entitled "A Messenger." He and his sister will perform a private concert for beach party attendees, and will do a meet-and-greet with fans as well.
Those interested can either register for the all-inclusive resort package, or for an event-only package which includes all speaking sessions, meet-and-greets, and concerts without the hotel and meal packages. Four hundred event-only packages will go on sale beginning February 5. Reservations can be made for the event online or by calling 800-889-5265. Kingsbury says to be on the lookout for an upcoming contest, where the winner will be awarded a scholarship for the event.
