A police investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving the granddaughter of Daystar Television co-founder Joni Lamb has been officially closed due to insufficient evidence, local authorities confirmed this week.
The case began in late 2023 when Joni Lamb’s son, Jonathan Lamb, and his wife, Suzy, reported concerns that their young daughter had been abused by a family member identified only as “Pete.” The report led the Colleyville Police Department to open a formal inquiry that lasted nearly a year and a half.
According to CP, police concluded the investigation without filing charges, stating that they were unable to obtain a direct disclosure from the child and had not found corroborating evidence that a crime had occurred.
Joni Lamb, a prominent figure in American Christian media, has publicly denied the claims against Pete and suggested that the child may have been harmed by another child at school rather than by a family member. She stated that both she and Pete “know the truth,” according to previous statements made on Daystar broadcasts.
Daystar Television welcomed the conclusion of the investigation, calling it confirmation of Pete’s innocence and denying any suggestion that the network’s leadership mishandled the situation.
Although the case is now closed, Texas law does not impose a statute of limitations on child sexual assault. This means the investigation could be reopened if new evidence surfaces or if the child is able to speak more clearly in the future. Jonathan and Suzy Lamb maintain that their daughter is still too young to fully articulate what happened but believe the truth will eventually come to light.
While the investigation ended without charges, the case has revealed deep divisions within one of Christian broadcasting’s most influential families and renewed broader concerns about how religious institutions handle abuse allegations internally.
