Now that Square Enix has made an announcement about Final Fantasy 15, fans of another of their video game franchises want to hear about Kingdom Hearts 3. Like Final Fantasy and Star Ocean, these are video game franchises that are well developed, and there have been rumors of Kingdom Hearts 3 having ties to Star Wars and Marvel's Avengers. This is what is currently known about Kingdom Hearts 3 release date and news.
If you are familiar with the Kingdom Hearts series, then you know that occasionally licensed characters from other franchises show up. Some of these characters are from the aforementioned Final Fantasy series, owned by Square Enix, but others are owned by Disney. Yes, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are side characters in the story of Sora in a magical world, and sometimes Disney worlds are a part of that.
When it comes to Kingdom Hearts 3, there has been a lot of rumors about what Disney worlds will be involved in it. Some rumors have consisted of Big Hero 6, Tangled, and even Zootopia, with nothing really ever confirmed. Disney does own the rights to many franchises such as everything Star Wars and Marvel.
Today, News Every Day just up and announced that Star Wars and Marvel will be involved in Kingdom Hearts 3. As someone who has been reporting on this game for about a year now, this doesn't feel like something that is actually happening, but one of many rumors concerning Kingdom Hearts 3. Yes, I am basically saying that you should take these next few paragraphs about the intersection between Star Wars, Marvel and Kingdom Hearts 3 with a grain of salt, yet fans of the game might like what they read.
In the game, it looks like Sora, Goofy, and Donald are going to explore New York City. Apparently, the Chitauri, the alien race that showed up in the first Avengers movie, will show up and do a lot of damage, and it will be up to Iron Man and the Avengers to help clean up. Then the Heartless, an antagonistic force from the Kingdom Hearts series will show up.
As for the Star Wars action, there will be a level that takes place between Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens. Apparently, Han and Chewie will be in some kind of trouble, but Sora will help them through.
Honestly, the whole scenario sounds like somebody's fan fiction. There is no reason to believe that Square Enix isn't working on some kind of scenario like that, as there is very little known about this game with its release date of 2017, and possibly late 2017. But trust me when I say that if Kingdom Hearts 3 has such scenarios, it will be difficult for the developer Square Enix to keep a lid on it.
Yes, it might be a long wait for Kingdom Hearts 3, but Square Enix is planning on having a mobile game known as Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, and it will come out in the United States on April 7 for iOS and Android devices. According to Venture Beat, this is the first mobile entry of the series to come out in the United States, and it is essentially a mobile version of a browser game known as Kingdom Hearts χ which was released in Japan in 2013.
