Last month, a South Korean man found himself in a life-or-death situation during a massive earthquake in Myanmar. In a dramatic moment, he leaped over a collapsing bridge to escape the disaster. In a later interview, he expressed deep gratitude, saying, "I thank God for saving me."

A powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar last month, causing the destruction of numerous buildings and infrastructure. People in high-rise buildings experienced sheer terror as they scrambled to evacuate. Among them was Nam Won-jun, a South Korean man who was at a gym when the ground suddenly shook violently. Realizing the gravity of the situation, he immediately attempted to escape.
"According to the KBS interview," he recalled, "I had only been working out for about 10 minutes when I suddenly heard an enormous roar from the sky, and the ground started shaking. At that moment, I realized it was an earthquake and rushed to escape from the 53rd floor." During his escape, he instinctively jumped over a collapsing bridge, narrowly avoiding disaster. "Looking back, I have no idea how I managed to jump," he admitted, recalling the harrowing moment.
Fortunately, he was able to reunite with his family safely. He shared, "I knew the elevator was dangerous, so I took the stairs. But by the time I got down, my legs were so weak that I was practically rolling down the steps. When I finally found my wife and child safe, I could only thank God."
He later added, "I feel like I’ve been given a second chance at life, and I will live even more diligently from now on." As Myanmar continues to recover from the earthquake’s aftermath, stories like his serve as powerful messages of hope and gratitude.
