The whole world is looking forward to the release of the iPhone 8, which is touted to be a brand new technological wonder. After all, the hype surrounding it is justified: this is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, and the smartphone has come a long way since Steve Jobs revealed it to the masses a decade ago. The most recent renders that have made its way to the Internet point to a stunning iPhone 8 design, and these renders were allegedly based on CAD files which were said to be used in the construction of the upcoming flagship communications device from Apple. OnLeaks, one of the more notable electronics leakers around, put up a rendered video of the iPhone 8, where it was crafted from an alleged CAD schematic of the handset’s casing.
The entire video presented was 25 seconds long, and it was created by Gear India which showcases a similar render as well. However, it is not, line for line, identical to a fabrication which was supposedly taken from the end of last month. The latest renders point to a very possible glass sandwich design, in addition to an edge-to-edge screen, a camera protrusion that has a centered flash located right smack in between a couple of lens elements, in addition to an enclosure that does look as though it has piled on a wee bit of weight more than the current flagship, the iPhone 7. OnLeaks has shared the video while cautioning its fans and followers to take it with a pinch of salt, and rightfully so, too. After all, Apple is notorious for being extremely secretive when it comes to its latest devices, and it would not be out of place to figure out that the Cupertino firm is currently developing a number of possible designs for the handset.
It was on April 13 last month when a sketchy diagram that carried the label “EVT”, or Engineering Validation Test, made an appearance, showcasing a device which was thicker compared to the iPhone SE. The iPhone SE, on record, is the thickest iPhone produced by Apple to date, so to have that kind of bulk in the newest iteration of the iPhone might turn some folks off. However, if that is the case, the increased bulk would surely be offset by a slew of improvements, features and functions that will continue to draw millions of people to the device when it hits the market. However, that schematic saw a “rival”, if you will, appear later in the month, pointing to a different position for the flash in addition to tweaks in the design. Then, the second leak also carried similar measurements to the first.
The iPhone 8 is set to arrive later this year, where it ought to prove worthy competition to the recently released Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. Word on the street has it that the iPhone 8 will arrive with a 5-inch plus edge-to-edge OLED panel, a larger battery, a new 3D facial scanner, among others. Only time will be able to tell with an actual rollout of the 10th anniversary iPhone which will surely pass the $1,000 price point.
