There is some news about the long-awaited LG G4, the follow-up to the popular G3.  That is, we actually have a release date for the LG G4, and here are some news about the Android L update for the LG G2 and LG G3.

Now I am getting some interesting news from Ubergizmo saying that the LG G4 release date is going to be on May 31st. The information comes from a Korean website, which means that the LG G4 might make its way around Korea before it comes to the states.

One thing to notice is that the LG G4 will have a carbon-like front and a leather back. The Leather is something of a new touch, as this hasn't been a part of the rumored specs. For example, it is rumored to have a 5.5 inch Quantum Display LCD display, possibly QHD resolution, not to mention a battery of 3,000 mAh and microSD slot. Then there is the 13 Megapixel Camera or 16 Megapixel camera, but we have heard that there will be a f/1.8 camera with an infrared color accuracy sensor.

Of course we should probably mention the software, as the LG G4 will have Android L out of the box.  Considering that a lot of LG G3 as well as G2 users are still waiting on their Android 5.0 update, it is good to know some will get their Lollipop when they wanted it.

Android Central reports that AT&T has rolled out the Lollipop update for the LG G2.  Before, only T-Mobile users of the G2 had access to it, but now AT&T users can have version 5.0.1.  This might not be as good of a catch as Android 5.1 which has appeared on several newer Android phones.

According to Phone Arena, the Verizon Wireless version of the LG G3 has finally received its Android 5.0 update at long last.  The LG flagship phone will be receiving some new features that card notifications, multitasking, and a "new Material Design of apps".  The update will arrive over-the-air (OTA) on Verizon LG G3 phones, and will join T-Mobile as carriers of the LG G3 who have Lollipop.

Sprint was able to receive its Android L update for the LG G3 sometime in the middle of February.  Of course, since Lollipop started to update Fall of last year, but this was a slight delay.  It appears that AT&T also jumped on the bandwagon and has offered the Android L update to their customers.  According to Android Central, Verizon was slow out the door when it comes to the Lollipop update for the G3.  According to GSM Arena, T-Mobile finally got their Lollipop update for LG G3 users quite recently at the beginning of April.

According to The Geek Church, the leaked report shows a lot of colors available on the leather look. I suppose that we'll have to wait until the end of the month to see what the LG G4 really has in store, but perhaps you might like that little preview. At least the matter of the LG G2 and the LG G3 being taken care of (for the most part) with Android 5.0.
