The CES 2015, a huge consumer electronics tradeshow that takes place in Las Vegas every year in the first complete week of January, is happening all next week.  The Gospel Herald will be there, and LG intends to announce these new Art Slim TV panels.

The Art Slim TV panels will be available in 55-inch and 65-inch options, and will be extremely thin and light.  The 55-inch model will be 7.5 mm thick and weigh 10.4 kg (22.9 lbs), while the 65-inch model will be 8.2 mm thick and weigh in at 16.2 kg (35.7 lbs).

According to Ubergizmo, there isn't any word on which companies will be adopting the LG Art Slim TV panels, but LG has already revealed that it has started to supply customers in China with the component and expects to possibly expand to a full lineup ranging from 49-incches to 65-inches sometime in 2015.

TWICE, a trade publication and website owned by the Official Show Daily of the International Consumer Electronics Show, has reported about the product from Yong-Kee Hwang, LG Display TV business unit executive VP.  He states:  "Design will be the next key factor in the display market as attention shifts from a focus on picture quality to the attractiveness of display designs, with differentiated designs and technologies, LG Display will make continuous efforts to give added value to customers and lead the global display market."

TWICE also reports that the panel depth of the Art Slim LCD screens is a 75 percent reduction over traditional LCD screens.  Most 55-inch models of this type of product are usually 30 mm thick, but the Art Slim models are comparable to most smartphones.  In fact, some smartphones are actually thicker than these Art Slim displays.

One of the reasons for the thinness of these Art Slim LCD screens is that LG used aluminum composite materials for the back cover of the LCD module, which will increase the rigidity and gives customized designs with various colors and patterns on the cover. The company has also developed innovations in the mechanical structure when converting the back cover of this LCD TV, such as attaching a rear cover to the panel based on conventional narrow bezel technology by minimizing the bezel width.

There is no word on exactly when these Art Slim LCD TVs will be made available to consumers in 2015.  This is probably only going to be one of the announcements made at CES 2015, as there is a press conference set up for Monday, January 5th 2015 that will undoubtedly reveal much more.
