Whenever there is a brand new version of the Android mobile operating system, you can be sure that there will be an update released for the newer and more recently introduced Android-powered handsets, starting first with Google’s very own slew of devices, before moving on to the other smartphone manufacturers and mobile carriers. However, in a rare case, LG’s recent flagship release, the multimedia powerhouse known as the LG V20, was launched in South Korea a few months back with the latest version of Android right out of the box -- Android 7.0 Nougat. This is without having to wait for an update release like normal, which is a surprising (and of course, pleasant) move from the folks over at LG. Since then, more and more recent devices are starting to pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update, and the latest news surrounding the LG V20 would be the device’s release over in India.
Just so that we are able to remember what all the fuss concerning the LG V20 is about, let us take a closer look at the kind of hardware specifications that the LG V20 dishes out. For starters, the LG V20 will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, the LG V10, by arriving with two displays. The primary display will of course be what we are all used to, while the secondary display will let you know of vital information at a glance without having to unlock the device in the first place, such as an incoming phone call, messages waiting in your inbox, and the time, among others.
At the back too, we will find a feature that we believe will be more and more common in the future -- the presence of a couple of cameras. This is not something new that LG has not done before, as they have achieved a pretty impressive dual camera setup in the form of the LG G5 which was introduced to the masses earlier this year. As for the overall build of the LG V20’s chassis, this flagship smartphone is made out of AL6013 metal. Arriving in India, it will carry a price tag of Rs. 54,999 (approximately $810 after conversion) which is a wee bit more expensive than what one would normally pay for over in the US. Not only that, the LG V20 will be available for purchase on Amazon India, which so happens to be the exclusive online retail partner for the handset, while retail stores will carry it from Tuesday onward.
Each LG V20 purchase will be accompanied by a free B&O PLAY headset that is worth more than $200 a pop to sweeten the deal, and there is also an exchange offer for those who want to trade in their older handsets to snag a spanking new LG V20 -- while obtaining a "minimum assured Rs. 20,000 off" in the process. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal! Not only that, there will be a SF coated back cover thrown in for free.
Other hardware specifications of the LG V20 include a 5.7-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) IPS Quantum Display, a secondary display, 4GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, a 16-megapixel primary rear camera (f/1.8 aperture) side by side with an 8-megapixel rear camera (f/2.4 aperture), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Infrared, and USB OTG capabilities.
