Police said there was nothing to suggest the suspect was on a random shooting rampage. The attack appeared to be targeted to a specific person in the office "over a bad business deal," said Nassau County Police Chief Steven Skrynecki, the New York Daily News reports.

An "active shooter" on the run in or near a Long Island mall in New York have prompted the lock down of Roosevelt Field Mall and schools in the vicinity.
Two people have been shot and the gunman has been described as an 63-year-old Asian male, 6-foot-2 and wearing a gray and brown suit jacket, according to Nassau County police department. One person shot has been confirmed dead.
The gunman fled in a white Honda after shooting the victims at 645 East Street shortly after 10 a.m., said New York police. The shooting have set off a large police response, with roads closed, cars searched and dozens of heavily armed officers spreading out across the area. While the police searched through the mall, it was uncertain if the gunman was inside.
Employees and shoppers at the mall were told to stay in place and search for place to hide as the police swept through the building for the gunman. Meanwhile, schools in the nearby location were locked down, according to authorities.
The rapid and widespread police response comes on the heels of a bloody terrorist attack on a mall in Kenya and a mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.
