Crime drama TV series ‘Longmire’ has returned to the small screen with its fifth season, but before going into the new installment and the possibility of another new season, here’s a quick recap of what took place in season 4 that aired on Netflix in 2015.
As one of the season’s major surprises, Bailey Chase’s character, Branch, was killed. The secret plan of Walt (Robert Taylor) was to associate the murder with Jacob Nighthorse (A Martinez), whom he deemed as the person behind his wife’s death. However, Nighthorse was found innocent and Barlow, played by Gerald McRaney, was found guilty of the murder.
This antagonist did not stick around long enough and was gone when the season entered its third episode.
After his innocence was proven, Nighthorse was also revealed to have allocated funds for Cady’s (Cassidy Freeman) reservation practice. Interestingly, the crime that he was supposedly involved in for a long time, particularly the running of an illegal loaning business within his casino, had not been his doing. In fact, it was found that Graham Greene’s character, Malachi, was the one to be held accountable.
Nonetheless, it remains unknown whether Nighthorse will shift into becoming a better person. As for Walt’s work with Chief Mathias (Zahn McClarnon), it seemed that the pair can work well despite their previous experiences.
Barry Sloane’s character, Zachary, was also involved with Longmire but was not included until the season’s finale.
Eventually, ‘Longmire’ season 4 brought on circumstances that could be used in spinning stories for new episodes. Its final episode showed a cliffhanging scene that viewers hope to be answered in the fifth season. A person carrying a weapon fired at Walt while he was with Donna (Ally Walker), further complicating the situation they were in. Fans are now looking forward to possible ‘Longmire’ season 5 spoilers that could shed light on who the attacker was.
For fans who have not watched the latest episodes, ‘Longmire’ season 5, which aired on Sept. 23 on Netflix, will feature Walt waking up and wondering about the things that happened and the possible culprit behind the attack.
He will also reflect on how he will carry on with his relationship with Donna. Moreover, he will be forced to accept the fact that someone else is looking for him, wanting to bring harm upon him.
Although these are certain struggles, Walt will have to face the biggest challenge of all and that is his daughter turning her back on him after making an agreement with his longtime adversary, Nighthorse.
‘Longmire’ season 5 already raked in an impressive number of subscribers to Netflix, which had been one of the main reasons the online streaming company picked up the show immediately after A&E’s cancellation of the third season.
However, it is to be determined whether ‘Longmire’ will be able to achieve a similar level of viewership as that of the fourth season for the network to request for another renewal order for more episodes.
