Macbook Air and Macbook Pro 2016 Release Date, Specs and Rumors: Macbook Pro to Feature Skylake Chipset, Macbook Air Might Be Discontinued

Apple is expected to announce new products at the upcoming WWDC 2016 next month. One of these is MacBook Pro 2016 that will feature the latest Skylake chipset. There are reports that MacBook Air might not appear in the event. Now, here's the latest round-up of update about MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs and rumors. 

MacBook Pro 2016 will be one of the highlights of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2016. The event will take place from June 13 to 17 in San Francisco, California. The Cupertino-based company is likely to release 13-inch and 15-inch models of MacBook Pro 2016. Moreover, the upcoming Apple product will also feature 6th generation Skylake processors. According to an International Business Times report, the upcoming MacBook Pro's performance and battery life will be improved by this new chipset. Other brands like HP and Dell have already launched Skylake processor-powered notebooks.

Furthermore, MacBook Pro 2016 editions will have slimmer chassis. Retina Displays will also be included in the new Apple notebooks. Several tech websites say it will also feature a touch-sensitive keyboard. The surface of the said keyboard can determine touch pressures of different levels and give feedbacks accurately.

As for its performance, the upcoming MacBook Pro will feature new GPU products from AMD and Nvidia. According to Macworld, the new notebooks will have significant improvement in the graphics department. It will help users to run graphic-sensitive applications more smoothly. There are also reports that they come with faster flash storage for better performance.

Also, MacBook Pro 2016 might provide USB-C ports and Thunderbolt 3.

As for the price, the upcoming Apple laptop will roughly cost $1,119 for 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro and $2,009 for 2.5GHz 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro.

On the other hand, MacBook Air line might be discontinued. There are rumors that Air models will not be needed anymore as the upcoming Pro models will be lighter and thinner. It will leave Apple users with a choice between the MacBook and MacBook Pro. However, there are speculations that only the 11.6-inch MacBook Air will be ditched, and will be replaced by a 15-inch model.

Nevertheless, MacBook Air 2016 might feature internal system improvements and a Touch ID within the trackpad if Apple will still release it. It will likely cost $899 for 13-inch, and $999 for 15-inch.
