When Apple unveiled iPhone SE and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro last month,  some fans thought the next-generation MacBook Air and MacBook Pro would also come out, but it didn't happen. Now, today's reports suggest that the new laptops will debut on June's WWDC (Worldwide Developers' Conference) 2016.

For the Macbook Pro, it has two variants available in the market today. By looking at the history of MacBook Pro releases, its new edition should be available by now. The current 13-inch MacBook Pro was released March 2015, while the current 15-inch model was released in May 2015.

Reports from MacWorld UK said the Cupertino-based tech company would hold a press conference on the annual WWDC event, which is set to happen on June 13 to 17. The same website also suggests that the new MacBook Pro and Air will be revealed on the developers' event.  Adding to that speculation, KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo told in Business Insider that the launching of new Macbooks would happen in "the first half of the year."

As for the specs of the forthcoming laptops, a new Apple patent could give some clues. In a patent filed September last year, it shows that new Macbooks could feature a large touchpad instead of a keyboard. The design of the new patent is described as "configurable, force-sensitive input structure for an electronic device."

If Apple decided to install the patent on the new Macbooks, it will allow users to customize their own keyboards. Unlike traditional keyboards, these new keyboards will not have any physical keys but they will feature touch-sensitive surface that can be used for typing.

Apple could also reduce their production cost in the Macbooks, because the new keyboard does not have moving parts. In addition, it could also lengthen the life of the laptops, having less ways for dust and other particles to penetrate.

Meanwhile, it is important to take note that Apple is known for submitting various kinds of patents every year. However, not all patents are used on the company's new devices. Additionally, it may take several years before Apple launches devices with new-patented features.

As of now, Apple has not yet confirmed or denied any of this MacBook 2016-related information, so let's take it with a grain of salt. Let's wait and see if the Apple will really launch new MacBook Pro and Air this June. Stay tuned for more updates.
