Married at First Sight had its second season with better ratings, but sadly ended in disaster as the couples all divorced, two of them after the season had its run. This has led to much speculation of whether or not Married at First Sight Season 3 will even air, or if it will be eclipsed by a new show called Seven Year Switch.
Married at First Sight is based off an Australian show of the same name, and it is a social experiment of marrying two people who have never met. According to Australian Network News, the Australian version plans to incorporate same-sex couples. The casting agency is up for it, and on the application questionnaires for the 2016 season, a gender preference for a partner was added. Considering that Australia has not passed legalized gay marriage in their country, this is rather interesting.
So, what is the word of the American version of the show? Reports are not positive as a recent article from the Master Herald has stated that it is "not likely" to be renewed for a Season 3. There has been no official announcement form FYI as yet.
It is possible that a new FYI show known as Seven Year Switch could be the new focus. This show is from the makers of Married at First Sight, and it is about four couples who have been together for a while but are encountering problems in their relationships, according to Movie News Guide. These couples will be switching partners that have been specifically paired by the show's relationship experts, and in case you are wondering, these newly paired couples will be required to share the same bed.
The Seven Year Switch will air eight episodes on FYI, and will features couples of Rachel Farris and CW McGee, Aleshia and Houston Osemwengie, Leah and Neal Carney, and Danielle and Eric Wolf, who all have no children. Assuming that this show is a hit, it will undeniably have another season, but perhaps some thinking of the long-term effects of these experiments might be a prudent move.
After all Season 2 of Married at First sight ended with a real trainwreck for these three couples. Sean and Davina were the divorced couple by the end of the Season 2 finale, but Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino had agreed to stay together. This is not happening anymore, as according to the NY Post, Jessica Castro's groom, Ryan De Nino made a murder vow to her.
A Queens Family Court petition filed Friday states that De Nino stated things like "I will break you into f___ing pieces" and "I will break your dad into pieces. I will make your whole family disappear - and your f-ing dog-ass sister's boyfriend." De Nino was even said to be caught on a live microphone saying: "She's f-ing dead. When I get back to Brooklyn, she's f-ing dead, this girl."
These legal papers say that Castro caught De Nino cheating on her on Valentine's Day. Apparently, the producers of Married at First Sight took the death threats pretty seriously, and provided Castro with security personnel. De Nino has been charged with harassment, menacing, and stalking, and the court referee Julie Stanton ordered De Nino to stay away from his wife until the hearing on July 13th.
According to BreatheCast, Jacyln Methuen and Ryan Ranellone have decided to end their marriage for good. There wasn't much to this breakup but an announcement on Instagram.
I have to admit that marriages have problems, but I can only see greater problems resulting from pairing people up who have never met. I don't see very positive results for the Seven Year Switch either. Is it possible that marriages just shouldn't go under the camera?
