If you are not familiar with Married at First Sight, it is a show on FYI where four experts put three couples together for marriage, even though the spouses have never met before. Perhaps I should say "was a show". The problems that occurred with last season's Married at First Sight has led viewers wondering if there will even be a Married at First Sight Season 3. This is a legitimate question as so far, of the three couples that were in Season 2 of Married at First Sight, all have filed for divorce. This is what we know about Married at First Sight Season 3 possible Release Date and News, and the theory that Seven Year Switch is the show's replacement.
There are way too many factors working against the American version of Married at First Sight to guarantee a Season 3, as the 100 percent Season 2 divorce rate and lack of Season 3 news has led to far too many rumors that the show will not be back for another season.
It is quite possible that FYI knows this, which is why they are focusing a lot of attention on their new show, The Seven Year Switch. If you are not familiar with the premise of this show, it is when couples who have been married switch partners. This might sound like other reality shows like Wife Swap or Trading Spouses, but Seven Year Switch takes it a step further as the switched husbands and wives are required to share a bed.
There's kind of a weird comeuppance happening on shows such as these. It seems marriages are being built and/or mixed for the sake of social experimentation mixed with televised drama. For those that believe that marriage is sacred and shouldn't be tampered with in such a manner, the problems with Married at First Sight Season 2 might prove that point. However, it really is just a case of consequences for actions. However, marriage tends to complicate relationships, and there are some things on these shows that really push the envelope where marriage vows are concerned.
Still, we don't want to assume that Married at First Sight is out, and Seven Year Switch is in. There is enough evidence to show that a Season 3 could be on the way.
Executive producer Chris Coelen addressed selecting participants to People, stating exactly how men and women are paired together on Married at First Sight. Season 1 pulled in 1,000 applicants, with season 2 getting 7,000 applicants. After most of these thousands are thinned out, the potential participants are invited to final callbacks that the producers refer to as "workshops".
This is where the show's experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Joseph Cilona, Greg Epstein, and Dr. Logan Levkoff, come in as potential participants are given some serious "extensive written evaluations" that "take hours to complete". By the way, these evaluations are only available to licensed therapists or government agencies. This process takes about six months, with the final casting about 4-6 weeks, and it is "very intense". Then the experts present their matches to both Kinetic Content and A&E, parent network of FYI.
It also should be noted in the interview with People that Coelen stated that season 3 has pulled in 20,000 applicants. He also stated that Season 3 would be documented in Atlanta. I find it hard to believe that these experts would have done all this work for nothing. Not only that, the fact that Coelen mentions a Season 3 actually reveals that there will be a Season 3.
It should be noted on the FYI site, the application form for Married at First Sight links to a message reading: "Casting Call No Longer Available". Is this because the show has been pulled, or is there so many applicants that no more are required?
I'm just going to recommend from my opinion of these "marriage" shows in general and lack of news that Married at First Sight has probably got the ax like 19 Kids and Counting officially did one month after news of Josh Duggar. Maybe FYI is training Seven Year Switch to be a replacement for Married at First Sight, which makes a lot of sense.
