What's in store for Season 3? ABC Promotional Poster

Marvel's Agents of Shield has been on an interesting saga after being renewed for a second season after a somewhat rocky beginning.  The Agents of Shield Finale airs tonight, and this is what we know of the spoilers, as well as the Season 3 Release date and spoilers.

So what do we know about the Agents of Shield Season 2 Finale?  Well, a full description was posted and this is what MStars News says it is for the two-parter simply called "S.O.S.":  "S.H.I.E.L.D. puts everything on the line to survive a war that blurs the line between friend and foe. Coulson and his team will be forced to make shocking sacrifices that will leave their relationships and their world changed forever".

Season 2 for the show has had a lot packed into it with a lot of information about the Inhumans, a group plucked right from Marvel comics that will soon have their own movie soon.  So what else can be expected of the two-hour finale?  It would appear that there are a lot of questions that could be answered, according to the International Business Times

For example, the goals of Raina (Ruth Negga) are not clear, nor what she wants to do with her powers.  Skye (Chloe Bennet) might also learn of what her mother Jaiying (Dichen Lachmen) did to Gonzales (Edward James Olmos).  Also, what does Ward (Brett Dalton) plan to do, as he fluctuates in between SHIELD and HYDRA?  Mack (Henry Simmons) has given his badge to Coulson (Clark Gregg) but perhaps he might not be quitting after all.

The one question that many believe will be answered is the role of Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki).  She was involved with something undercover at HYDRA, which might be messing with her life now.  Not to mention her relationship with Hunter (Nick Blood).  There is also much speculation to the actions of Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge).

However, the big twist in the end, aside from any tie-ins to Ant-Man or other Marvel Cinematic Universe property, will be a certain promise that executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb told Entertainment Weekly when they said there would be "casualties of war" in the finale.  It looks like someone will die, perhaps.

Hopefully, most of these questions will be addressed in the Season 2 finale, but they could carry over into Season 3.  Yes, the show did get renewed for another season.  Many have speculated that since Marvel's Agents of Shield ties into the cinematic universe put out in The Avengers and the films about their characters, Season 3 will have to tie in the "Civil War".

For those of you who are not aware, "Civil War" was a major comic-book tie-in for Marvel a few years ago.  The story was about new legislation that required registration of superheroes, and some refused to be a part of it.  In fact, the Civil War will be the subject of Captain America 3, which will hit theaters on May 6, 2016, and its release is about the time when Season 3 of Agents of Shield will wrap up.

For those interested in watching Marvel's Agents of Shield Season 2 finale, it will air tonight at 9 PM on ABC.  Viewers also have the option of livestreaming the event on the ABC site.  As for the release date for Season 3, there doesn't seem to be any exact date but sometime in the Fall.
