Grammy Award-winning singer Michael Bublé has asked for prayers for his three-year-old son, Noah, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

"We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US," the 41-year-old singer wrote in a Facebook post on Friday. "We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children. Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well."

He continued: "At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing."

According to the Huffington Post, Bublé and his wife, who are also parents to son Elias, who was born in January, believed Noah had mumps when he fell ill.

Bublé opened up about the joys of fatherhood and the overwhelming love he feels for his children last month while speaking with Entertainment Tonight: "I love them more than I'll ever love anything, or anyone in the whole universe. I think it gave me perspective on life that I think I very badly needed," he said. "It's hard to be able to quantify that level of love. I didn't even know that there was that color in the spectrum. I didn't know that level of love existed. But it makes me better at everything. It allows me to pull more emotion and be more honest and to be in the moment."

Following the shocking announcement, thousands of fans took to social media to offer prayers for the little boy and his family.

"My thoughts and prayers are with you all, please God Noah pulls through this and carries on to enjoy a full and happy life with his wonderful family," wrote June Benson.

"Sending prayers for Noah to beat the fight against Cancer," wrote Debbie Castillo. "Praying for you and your wife to have the strength you need from God to get your son through this sickness. It's the Christmas/Holiday Season....the Season of Miracles! I pray for a miracle for Noah! In Jesus name we pray for little Noah's cure and your families love and strength. Open a door for God by allowing him in to heal and he will open a door for your son to heal."

Others offered their thoughts and prayers using the hashtag #PrayforNoah. Wrote one well-wisher:  "Thoughts & prayers go to @michaelbuble and his family especially little Noah. Stay strong #prayforNoah."

Wrote another: "Praying for Michael Bublé's child after the awful news has reached media. Horrible, horrible disease. #prayfornoah"

The Mirror notes that the heartbreaking news comes a year after Noah was hospitalized with serious burns after he climbed on their kitchen worktop and poured boiling water over himself. Thankfully, the little boy recovered: "At one point the doctors told me they'd have to do skin grafts but thank God it started healing little by little. For a long time he has to use elastic bands pressed tight so he's not left with scars," his mother said.
