In December 2013, the world of racing fans were horrified to hear that Michael Schumacher had injured himself in a skiing accident.  The racing legend was put in a medically-induced coma and then taken to his home, but news of recovery has been scarce since then.  This is the latest news on Michael Schumacher's Latest Health Update. 

Michael Schumacher is still recovering at his house in Switzerland that overlooks Lake Geneva.  There has been little communication with the media about his condition since he has arrived there over a year ago.  The family prefers media silence and has even placed specialized tents around the house's perimeter so photographers can't take pictures of Schumacher in a wheelchair. 

A recent news report from News Every Day states that "Progress is painfully slow.  There is no miracle on the horizon".  It has been revealed that Schumacher has not uttered a word since the medically induced coma, and there is a 15-men medical team that caters to his needs every day.  This team reports to Jean-Francois Payen, the doctor who was responsible for removing the blood clots from his brain after the ski accident.

It has been reported that the cost of the treatment has already reached £10 million.  Spinal and neurological surgeon and consultant Peter Hamlyn states that Schumacher may or may not fully recover, as this is the kind of injury that may take years to heal completely, if it heals at all. 

According to MNR Daily, Hamlyn also states that "If you look at severe head injury victims who go on to make a good recovery - and I'm not saying all do - it will always be a story of years. The first months are dominated by questions of survival. Gradually as the weeks and months go by those questions of survival turn into questions of the quality of survival."

What is interesting is how Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, has been asking fans to "be realistic" with their thoughts about Schumacher's recovery.   That really doesn't bode well for fans of the seven-time F1 champion, but honestly, it is probably the best that one can do within these circumstances. 

It would appear that Schumacher's fight is going to be a slow one, and the reason reports are not going out from the family is that there might not be anything to report.   Also, it is understandable why they want to keep the condition within the family, and would make a press release if there was any major progress.
