An official tweet from T-Mobile has confirmed that Microsoft's Lumia 640 will be available from the telecommunications carrier beginning July 16 in the U.S., reported IBTImes. According to the report, the Lumia 640 will have an introductory price of $89 per unit.  Comparatively, another telecommunications carrier Cricket, is selling a prepaid version of the Lumia 640 at $129.99.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 has a 5-inch display and sporting a 720 x 1280 resolution. It means the phone has a pixel density of 294ppi. Other specification of Lumia 640 includes a Snapdragon 400 SoC, a quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU and the Adreno 305 GPU. It is equipped with a 1GB of RAM along with 8GB of expandable memory. The back of the Lumia 640 has an 8MP camera to take high-quality pictures a .9MP snapper is on front. The lights are kept on by a 2500mAh battery. Windows Phone 8.1 OS is pre-installed along with the Lumia Denim update.

According to Phone Arena, AT&T is scheduled to announce the launch of the Lumia 640 and the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL in the coming days. The Lumia 640 XL is sporting a 5.7-inch display, bigger than the Lumia 640.

Because both the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL will be running with Windows 8.1, they can be upgraded to Windows 10 as soon as it becomes available.  With these phones comes a year's subscription to Office 365, as well as 1 TB of OneDrive storage plus access to Office on a PC, Mac, or Tablet.  Also included is 60 free minutes of Skype Unlimited worldwide per month.

With the Lumiz 940 & 940 XL running on Windows 10, their launch are expected to coincide with the official release of Windows 10 between July and August, PC Advisor said. Both smartphones will be the first Windows 10 phones.

The 940 will have a 5.2 inch display, with the 940 XL having a 5.7 inch display, but some sources state it will only be 5 inches.  It will also have a 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 , processor, Adreno 420 graphics, 3 GB of RAM, with options for 32, 64, or 128 GB of storage.  The rear-facing camera should be a 24 Megapixel PureView camera with LED flash, with 4K video recording at 60 fps (Frames Per Second).  The front-facing camera will be at 5 Megapixels, and capable of 1080p video.  In addition to those features, reports said  that the 940 and 940 XL will have advanced features like 3D-Interaction, Iris Scanner, and pen support.

PC Advisor said it expects the Lumia 940 to be priced near the $620 current selling price of the Nokia Lumiz 930.  It said the Lumia 940 should not exceed the $726 as Microsoft is also pushing for its Windows 10 on smartphones.

Those who want to buy the Lumia XL version should expect to add at least $140 from the Lumia 940's RRP.
