Surface 3 and Surface Pro 4

Considering that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book was considered to be a huge hit for the company, in spite of some problems that users had with it.  It was definitely the poster boy for Windows 10, and it really is just a matter of time before the Surface Pro 5 comes to town.  This is what is presently known about the release date, rumors, and price of the new Microsoft Surface Pro 5, and it might be coming earlier to compete with long-time rival of Microsoft Apple and their product, the 2016 MacBook.

According to NVO News, the next version of the tablet/PC hybrid could be showing up a bit earlier than expected as it could arrive in June.  Considering that the Surface Pro 4 and its Book counterpart were released at the end of October last year, it would appear that someone at Microsoft is in a hurry to get the latest version of the product out ASAP.

Most new tech is spaced out so there is a new version every year, and practically every company does this.  Many have speculated that Microsoft moved the release date up for the Surface Pro 5 in order to compete with the release of the new MacBook Pro.

Apple's new laptops were rumored to be released during the last holiday season, and the 2016 new models were suspiciously absent at Apple's Big Event last March.  Chances are, the new MacBooks will show up at WWDC 2016, Apple's  Worldwide Developer's Conference, where new Apple products are often announced.   So is Microsoft deliberately making a move on this Apple's turf?  If so, it is a bold one.

Some say that the evidence of the imminent release of the Surface Pro 5 comes from discounts that that are being offered on the current version of the Surface Pro 4, such as a deal from Best Buy that is quite substantial.  In addition to that, there have been price cuts on the Surface Pro 3 happening all around as well.  Yibada reports that the Surface Pro 3 will sell on eBay for $779.99, when its original price is $999.

As far as what the Surface Pro 5 will have, most believe that it will have a Kaby Lake processor, the next-generation of Intel processor.  It should also have a microSD card slot, USB C port, audio jack, as well as a rechargeable Surface Pen and even a mini-display port made for video.  The rumor of the pen comes from a patent that Microsoft filed for a stylus device with a recharageable battery, and this patent includes details about a magnetic charging dock for the stylus.

The price for this new Surface Pro 5 is expected to be $899.  We are going to have to wait to see if the release date is correct, and the wait might actually be shorter this time around.
