New improvements are set to come on the popular sandbox game from Mojang. The early version of update 1.9 for Minecraft is now available, while the full edition is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, February 25. Here's what is currently known about Minecraft 1.9 update release date and patches.

The latest update addresses numerous game bugs, such as a rail duplication glitch and save file problems. It will also increase the durability of shields. Interestingly, the game developer said the update adds "34.7 percent" to hype.

For interested players who want to get the pre-release 1.9 patch, get it by opening Minecraft launcher and then select "New Profile" button. After that, choose the box that writes, "Enable experimental development snapshots."

However, game developer Mojang warns that the pre-release patches could delete the player's saved Minecraft world, so it is recommended that players back up their data to avoid unnecessary problems while playing the game.

Here are the notable improvements brought by 1.9 patch.

  •  Addressed game bugs
  •  Enhanced durability of shields
  •  Some crystals in the end are protected by cages again
  •  Increased hype by 34.7%

Here are the in-game bugs that have been addressed:

  •  Marker ArmorStand Should Not Have Passenger Offset (Bug MC-96863)
  •  Awkward position of character while riding an entity after swimming with elytra (Bug MC-97217)

Meanwhile, Microsoft announced on Feb 18 that the first major update of the year for Minecraft is available now for the Windows 10 and mobile versions. The "Overworld update" brings tons of addtions to the game, such as new comparators, repeaters, dispensers, droppers, hoppers and more. However, these new contents are exclusively available on PC and mobile. There still no announcement if it will land on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U platform.

Furthermore, according Venture Beat, Microsoft is rolling out new skins based on the game's redstone component together with the new update. We also previously reported about the February update of Minecraft. The newly released game addition is based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West.

Sales records show Minecraft has sold more than 70 million copies around the world, that's why Microsoft bought the developer Mojang for $2.5 billion in 2014.
