Tom Cruise Reveals Tentative "Impossible Six" Shoot Date on Daily Show

 On Tuesday evening, Tom Cruise sat down for an interview with comedian Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. Six minutes into interview, the actor revealed that work has begun on the sequel to Mission: Impossible 5.

"We'll probably start shooting it next summer," Cruise continued.

The film star's reveal suggests that Paramount Pictures may be shortening the time in between sequels. Mission: Impossible II was released four years after the first film. The next installment, Mission: Impossible III came six years after. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol hit theaters five years later.

The four films respectively involved the talents of directors Brian De Palma, John Woo, J.J. Abrams, and David Ellison.

How Long Will Tom Cruise Play Ethan Hunt?

Recently, Collider speculated that the rush in the production schedule may be due to Cruises' advancing age. The 53-year-old actor does most of the stunts seen throughout the Mission: Impossible series. However, Tom Cruise insisted that he will keep doing Mission Impossible until age 90.

"They will be throwing me out of planes in my wheelchair at that point, so whatever it takes, we'll keep going," Cruise jokingly told E! on Tuesday.

Cruise plays main protagonist, agent Ethan Hunt, in all four installments of the Mission Impossible franchise. The actor is also one of the producers for Mission: Impossible 5.  

Paramount Pictures has not formally announced Mission: Impossible 6. At this time, Tom Cruise is working with film director Doug Liman on the drug thriller Mena, which is due in 2017. The duo previously worked on film Edge of Tomorrow.
