As the Pittsburgh Pirates recover from their fifth defeat in the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers, the MLB team deals with yet another problem that might threaten its American League run. Reports reveal that MLB All-Star Andrew McCutchen is suffering from an injury which has been plaguing him throughout the seaso. He missed the final game with the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday (September 3, 2015) at the Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Pittsburgh Pirates, while exhibiting quite an impressive MLB run this season, have been ridden with injuries since the games started. In the latest injury to plague the MLB team, the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to have to make do without star player Andrew McCutchen. "We've been talking about a day off for the past four or five days," disclosed Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle. "Last night we decided today would be a good day off."

According to the Hurdle, the injury that has been causing problems with McCutchen throughout this series pertains to the pain he has been experiencing in his left knee. While the troubling knee has yet to pose actual danger to his physical well-being, the Pirates deem it more proactive to have it checked before the injury worsens. Taking the night off for personal duties has always been an idea that McCutchen steered away from, according to the Pirates manager.

However, the All-Star player had been repeatedly assured that he has to prioritize his health if he truly wants to help the team win the MLB trophy this season. "I think it's also a relief off his mind, that he feels like he's not doing a disservice to the ballclub," shared Hurdle, referring to the final decision of the Pittsburgh Pirates star to eventually take the night off to attend to his knee injury. He added, "I think earlier in his career there were times where he didn't feel like taking the night off." The Pittsburgh Pirates manager, however, guaranteed the fans and followers of the MLB club that Andrew McCutchen will be absent from the field for one night only.

Meanwhile, the future of Pedro Alvarez in the Pittsburgh Pirates locker room appear to be once again the center of attention. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the MLB team perceived Pedro Alvarez as nothing more than an "error machine in the field and nothing more than acceptable at the bat." Hence, the MLB star is expected to exit the Pittsburgh Pirates locker room with a "disappointing" run with the team. However, Pedro Alvarez eventually turned things around and became a noticeable star. Should he continue with his current run, he might actually leave the Pittsburgh Pirates under "pleasant circumstances."

The next game of the Pittsburgh Pirates after facing the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday will be against the St. Louis Cardinals. The game against the St. Louis Cardinals, which will be held at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, is scheduled on Friday (September 4) at 8:15 pm ET.
