Motorola seems to have a hit on its hands with the Moto X, enough so it spawned a sequel with the second generation 2014 Moto X released about six months ago. This has left fans and consumers wondering what can be next for the Motorola Moto X 3rd generation (2015 version), and when is the release date.
The Latino Post states that the current generation of the 2014 Moto X has a 5.2 inch screen, 1080 x 1920 resolution, Snapdragon 801, Adreno 330 GPU, 13 Megapixel rear camera, 2 Megapixel front camera, and powered by a Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery. The camera is pretty advanced with autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, and HDR. There are also sensors that include accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, and temperature.
So what can the Moto X 2015 possibly offer customers to improve their experience? Well, there is a lot that can be done here. An Android Central user has stated that the screen size could grow into a 5.5 inch job, bringing the next Moto X into phablet territory. Of course, the camera could always grow in Megapixels to about 16. Some have stated that they want the Moto X 2015 to be smaller, like with a screen size at 4.7 inches.
According to Ubergizmo, Motorola's president, Rick Osterloh, was on Twitter to give away the Moto X 2015 release date. Osterloh was merely responding to a question from a customer, and he stated that Motorola is trying to stay on an annual cycle for all their products including the Moto X. In other words, since the Moto X was released in 2014 around August/September, this means that this year's Moto X will appear around that time as well for 2015.
Of course, this does leave a lot of room for Motorola to make some kind of executive decision and attempt to launch the Moto X earlier than expected. So far, all that is really known about this year's version of the Moto X is that it would have Snapdragon 810. The only reason why we know about this is because Motorola and Qualcomm have previously confirmed that a new flagship form Motorola is coming and will be powered by the new Snapdragon 810 SoC. All signs seem to point that Snapdragon 810 will come to the Moto X.
Of course, there could be some problems with the Snapdragon 810 processor. Some reports state that the 810 has been having some overheating issues in other handsets, but manufacturers have resolved this issue through proper CPU throttling. Perhaps the Moto X 3rd generation could have the S815 or S820 chip over the 810, but still nothing has been seen.
I'm sure there will be more hints of what the Moto X third generation will be, and we'll keep you informed before the Moto X 3rd Generation expected August/September release date.
