Fancy picking up a brand new Motorola handset? The Lenovo-owned Motorola has both the Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play in line to be released, after seeing a totally new press render leaked out. In the new leak, it points to the front as well as back portion of the two handsets, although it can be rather tough at first to tell one model from the other based on the front alone. Perhaps it is Motorola’s method of trimming down production costs, where there is a brand new rectangular fingerprint scanner located close to the display in a similar manner, in addition to a front-facing LED flash that ought to be able to help you capture better looking selfies even in low light conditions. All the best to those who wear glasses though, as reflection from the flash is not going to make the selfie any more flattering.
It also looks as though the microphone is located on the bottom left segment on both the upcoming Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play, which would be close to the mentioned fingerprint scanner. Apart from that, both handsets do seem to sport a type of shell around the front area. When you look at the flip side, it becomes easier to differentiate between the two devices. For instance, the Moto Z2 Force does feature a dual camera setup within the accompanying round lens, whereas the Moto Z2 Play will carry a similar bump, except that it will have one less camera within. More than that, both of these devices have taken a rather drastic departure from the clean aesthetics that was featured in the previous release of the Android Nougat-powered Moto Z range last year. Rather, it seems as though Motorola would like to settle for a more premium look that is also playful at the same time, making it more like cousins to the new Moto G range.
This latest leak does seem to be in line with other reports concerning both the Moto Z2 Play and Moto Z2 Force. The former has more or less lost a wee bit of weight compared to its predecessor (which is always a good thing in the world of consumer electronics), while the latter will continue to arrive with a 3.5mm headphone jack, ensuring that it will be compatible with existing headphones without requiring you to pick up an adapter of sorts. It does seem as though the Moto Z2 Play will be more budget oriented, all without having to sacrifice on performance and capability.
Some of the rumored hardware specifications of the Moto Z2 Force point to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM, while the Moto Z2 Play is touted to be less of a performer with the less-than-stellar Snapdragon 626 processor, although it will not shirk away from the RAM count with 4GB. Expect current Moto Z Play owners to make the jump to the Moto Z2 Play when it arrives, especially for those who would like to have more muscle underneath the hood without having to fork out a premium for a flagship smartphone from either Apple or Samsung.
As for the Moto Z2 Force, this seems to be a totally different beast altogether, but only time will be able to reveal more information. We can only sit tight and wait for additional details to be revealed, and between now and then, it would not be surprising to see additional leaks happen for either one, or both of the devices. Pricing details are still up in the air at the moment as well, but it should not venture too far off from what the current Moto Z Force and Moto Z Play costs.
