Motorola Android 7.0 Nougat: Moto Z Droid And Moto Z Force Receives Update

Android Nougat
Latest on Android Nougat roll out. It gets rather tricky figuring out just which particular smartphone model will be on the receiving end of the latest Android operating system version.

With Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat being the latest iteration of the Android mobile operating system, you can be sure that there will be different kinds of smartphone manufacturers as well as mobile carriers scampering to ensure that the more recent releases would be on the receiving end of some Nougat goodness as well. The thing is, Google’s own devices would normally be the first out of the group to pick up such updates, while the rest will normally have to wait a while longer. Some slightly later than the rest, of course. How about Motorola and their collection of smartphones that are slated to pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update? We have received word that the Moto Z range has already picked up the Android 7.0 Nougat update: namely the Moto Z Droid and the Moto Z Force.

It has certainly been some time for this update to be made available to some Android-powered Motorola handsets, but better late than never, don’t you think so? So far, Motorola has shortlisted 15 devices that will pick up the update in the past, with many on the list being more or less a shoe in for the Nougat update, but there were certain surprising omissions to say the least. With Motorola’s recent history of rolling out the newest Android update to their handsets pretty fast before other smartphone manufacturers as what we saw happen with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the same can be said this time around as well.

Motorola did issue a confirmation that the Moto Z range would receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update in November, which was not too long ago, and it seems that the Moto G4 and G4 Plus are now being pinpointed to be on the receiving end of the very same update. Of course, there has been some speculation as to what the actual release date would be, as nothing has been finalized just yet. However, majority of the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus owners ought to be able to expect some Android 7.0 Nougat goodness arrive on their respective handsets before 2017 comes a-knockin’ on their handsets. This would make for a very, merry Christmas, indeed!

The update is not to be sneezed at, requiring close to 20 minutes in order to complete its installation. Those who are rocking to the Moto G4 and G4 Plus ought to see Android 7.0 Nougat arrive this week -- if you reside in Brazil and India, of course.

Assuming it actually fails to make the cut for the end of Q4 release, then it should be somewhere early next year that we can look forward to the update. Many users on Reddit have already shared how their Verizon Moto Z DROID and Moto Z Force devices picked up the Android 7.0 Nougat update last month, and it was only a while later that Verizon stepped forward with an official confirmation, so we expect the same to happen with the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus.

A Motorola spokesperson has shared that consumers can “expect to see Android N on the Moto Z family and Moto G4 beginning in Q4.” To refresh our memories, these are the following Motorola devices that will be obtaining some Nougat sweetness in due time: Moto G (4th Gen), Moto G Plus (4th Gen), Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid, and the Nexus 6.
