The Motorola Moto X has had two iterations with the first generation being released in 2013, and the next gen or second gen having been released last year in August/September.  This has led to fans of the Moto X wondering when the generation or 2015 model is on the way.  Fortunately, Motorola's president has given us a hint of the Motorola Moto X 2015 version release date.  There has also been recent news on the Android L Update for the first and second generation Moto X.

According to Ubergizmo, Motorola's president, Rick Osterloh, was on Twitter to give away the Moto X 2015 release date.  Osterloh was merely responding to a question from a customer, and he stated that Motorola is trying to stay on an annual cycle for all their products including the Moto X.  In other words, since the Moto X was released in 2014 around August/September, this means that this year's Moto X will appear around that time as well for 2015.

Of course, this does leave a lot of room for Motorola to make some kind of executive decision and attempt to launch the Moto X earlier than expected.  So far, all that is really known about this year's version of the Moto X is that it would have Snapdragon 810.

As far as the specs on this year's model are concerned, the Moto X second generation has a AMOLED touchscreen, a Snapdragon 801 2.5 GHz quad-core processor, 13 Megapixel front-facing camera and 2 MP rear-facing camera, battery capacity of 2300 mAh, and an MSRP of $599.

The one thing that the Moto X second generation (or first generation) doesn't have out of the box is Android 5.0, also known as Android L or Lollipop.  The International Business Times states that Luciano Carvalho, a software engineer at Motorola says that a bug-free version of Android 5.1 Lollipop update will come to the Moto X.  Tech Times reports that for the first generation of the Moto X will have a "soak test" for their device, which means that it tests out the impending software updates prior to the official release or announcement.   This allows members of the Motorola Feedback Network to test it out before it hits carriers for the final release.

A recent report by the Latin Post has stated that the second generation Moto X already has a slightly more updated Lollipop Android 5.0.2 on AT&T.  Android Pit reports that there is an option for second generation Moto X users if you are willing to use XDA Developers and OTA files for Android 5.1 and a pure Moto X that is unrooted.  Granted, these types of downloads can be risky for those who are not "in the know" technically, so use this at your own risk.
