Motorola is still quite popular smartphone, in spite of Samsung's Android devices and other brands like HTC, LG, and Sony. Most of these Android devices have been getting Android M, and they will soon be upgraded to Android N, which was announced at Google I/O a few weeks ago. As for today, Motorola has announced its next round of Android flagships, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, and this is what is known about the Release Date, Price, Specs, and News.
According to Engadget, these two new flagship phones have an ultra-thin design, and it has an interesting feature. Actually, it is more of a lack of a feature, as there is no headphone jack. Oh, don't worry, you can use Bluetooth or plug in the included USB-C to 3.5 mm jack adapter to use headphones. As a side note, there are rumors that the news iPhone 7 won't have a headphone jack either. Perhaps these Moto Z phones are setting the bar?
The Moto Z has a new quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor running at up to 2.2 GHz and 4 GB of RAM. The screen is smaller than last year's at 5.5 inches, and it supports 2560 by 1440 pixels at 535 pixels per inch. It also weighs not a lot at 4.5 ounces, with a 2,600 mAh battery.
Then there is the camera, which is at Moto Z packs in a 12 Megapixel rear shooter with an f/1.8 aperture lens, optical image stabilization, and laser autofocus. The front camera is 5 Megapixels.
As for the Moto Z Force, it is thicker at 6.9 mm, and slightly heavier. It has a slightly larger battery at 3,500 mAh. The camera is also a 21 Megapixel job with phase detection autofocus and Deep Trench Isolation. Another difference is that the Moto Z Force's screen also uses Motorola's shattershield technology, which is more resistant to cracks and scratches than Gorilla Glass.
Just to let you know, both the new Motorola Z phones by embracing the Moto Mods. There are MotoMods that Motorola will unveil this year which are modular accessories that connect to the pins. A separate article from GSM Arena details that these MotoMods are semi-modular with distinct functions like an extra battery, stereo speakers, and one with a pico projector.
These Moto Z phones are going to be available on Verizon as "Droid Editions". They will also be available from Motorola this fall. The Moto Z will be available internationally in September, but the Z-Force is only going to be available in the United States. As for the price, there doesn't seem to be any word as yet.
