If you haven't been watching USA network's Mr. Robot, then you are missing out on an in-depth and controversial series discussing the impact of technology on humanity. The show is a huge hit and won a Golden Globe, as many tuned in to see hacktivists take on an E Corp. The show ended its season 1 on several cliffhangers, but it was already renewed for a second season even before the first premiered. The biggest spoiler of Season 1 was the discovery that Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) was nothing more than a figment of Elliot's (Rami Malek's) imagination. There was also the successful hack of society, throwing the world into chaos. Then there is a visitor at Elliot's apartment door who is never seen, and needs to be revealed, at least for the audience's sake.
What made Mr. Robot's Season 1 ending interesting is that it had a post-credits scene. Yes, this is something that is normally seen in Marvel movies to preview the next film, but in this one, it showed Whiterose (BD Wong) and Phillip Price (Michael Cristofer) together in one room, and knowing who is responsible. Does this mean that Elliot will have a target on his head for the entirety of Season 2, and possibly beyond?
According to IGN, Sam Esmail, the show's creator, has explained that Season 2 of Mr. Robot will focus on Elliot's reconciling with the fact that he sees a fantasy. It will be about "Elliot negotiating with himself". The show is setting up for what could be a confrontation similar to the one that Edward Norton had with Tyler Duerden (Brad Pitt) in Fight Club, and Mr. Robot is heavily influenced by that work.
According to SlashFilm, Season 2 is going to focus on a lot more backstory and a promise that "the timeline will get a little clearer". There are rumors that the three-day gap that happened in the finale is going to be explored, so we know exactly what happened to Elliot.
Another big question for Season 2 of Mr. Robot is whether or not Angela (Portia Doubleday) is going to sell out and become a part of the evil corporation. There is going to be a lot of guest stars including Craig Robinson, Sandrine Holt, Michael Maize, Dorothi Fox, Luke Robertson, and hip hop artist Joey Bada$.
According to The Verge, Mr. Robot will return to the USA network on July 13th, and it will only have ten episodes. However, all of these episodes will be directed by Sam Esmail himself, signaling the creator's direction for the show that will more than likely be a set-up for a Season 3.
