Now that the 2015/2016 Football Season is over with Super Bowl 50, and the Denver Broncos victorious, it is now time to think about Basketball season with the NBA. Particularly the NBA All-Star Game, and many are asking when is the NBA All-Star Game. The answer is the weekend of February 11-14, as there is more to this All-Star Game than just the All-Star Game, but an NBA All-Star Weekend. Here are the highlights from each day, listed below, and those that are interested in watching online or live streaming events should click here for a separate article.
Thursday, February 11, has an NBA GameTime from Toronto at 6:30 PM (NBA TV), followed by the Pelicans vs. Thunder at 8 PM (TNT).
Friday, February 12, will open with the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge Practice from 9:30-11:30 (NBA TV). The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game begins at 7 PM with Team Canada against Team USA, with Drake coaching the Canadians and Kevin Hart on Team USA (ESPN). Following that will be the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge at 9 PM (TNT), which will be a Rookie challenge with Team USA and Team World, as the best Rookies and 2nd-year players will match up against one another based on their nationality to determine which part of the World will win.
The biggest event scheduled on Saturday, February 13, is the All-Star Saturday Night (TNT) at 8 PM, which includes three events: The Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, and the Verizon Slam Dunk.
The 2016 NBA All-Star game will take place on Sunday, February 14, at 8:30 PM at the Air Canada Centre (TNT). This will be the first time that the game will be held outside of the United States.
As for the players of the game, the Western Conference should have had Steve Kerr, coach of the Golden State Warriors representing, but since it is in the rules that no coach can do two consecutive All Star Games, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich will be doing the honors. The starters were determined by vote according to the fans and the winners included Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder), Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers), Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder), and Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs). The Reserves include Chris Paul, James Harden, Draymond Green, DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, and LaMarcus Aldridge.
The Eastern conference will be coached by Tyronn Lue of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Starters include Dwayne Wade (Miami Heat), Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors), LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), Paul George (Indiana Pacers), and Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks). The Reserves include John Wall, Jimmy Bulter, Paul Millsap, Andre Drummond, Chris Bosh, DeMar DeRozan, and Isaiah Thomas.
