The Philadelphia 76ers had a devastating season in the NBA last year, placing second to the last in terms of ranking and beating only the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference in the number of losses the basketball team suffered. However, the NBA offseason saw the New York Knicks move to acquire better basketball stars in an effort to bolster its roster.

In fact, even the ailing Los Angeles Lakers relentlessly participated in the NBA trades and draft picks to guarantee a better performance this NBA season. Surprisingly, the Philadelphia 76ers did not participate as aggressively as the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Philadelphia 76ers did not make waves in the trade talks this NBA offseason, the team added a few notable basketball stars in its roster.

One of the NBA stars who has the fans and followers of the Philadelphia 76ers excited this season is rookie Jahlil Okafor. The No. 3 overall pick is reportedly set to make waves this NBA season as possibly one of the key players in the Philadelphia 76ers roster. Apart from the fans of the Philadelphia 76ers, it looks like even the general managers of the NBA teams are in agreement that the rookie will be one of the most notable basketball stars this season. According to the NBA 2015-16 General Manager Survey, which came out on Tuesday, Philadelphia 76ers star Jahlil Okafor is believed to be the rookie to exhibit a breakout performance this NBA season.

In the said survey, Jahlil Okafor is revealed to be the basketball star pegged to win the Rookie of the Year award for this coming NBA season. The Philadelphia 76ers garnered a total of 44.8 percent of the votes. At second place is Karl Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves who got 34.5 percent; followed by Denver Nuggets star Emmanuel Mudiay who received 13.8 percent. The second draft pick of this NBA season, D'Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers, was also one of the candidates under consideration for the said award. Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers was in the running as well.

In addition to Jahlil Okafor, the Philadelphia 76ers managed to sign Sacramento Kings basketball stars Carl Landry as well as Nik Stauskas.

In an earlier interview with CSN Philly, veteran NBA star Carl Landry admitted that he looks forward to serving as a leader in the Philadelphia 76ers. "I've played almost 40 playoffs game, probably played more playoff and regular-season games than the whole team combined," shared Carl Landry, referring to how young the Philadelphia 76ers are as an NBA team.

The former Sacramento Kings star went on to share, "I'm not going to lead them in the wrong direction. I'm going to continue to be a professional. That's what got me to this point today. Hopefully with that, I can help this ball club out as well as myself along the way."
