NBA Rumors: Brooklyn Nets Signing Yogi Ferrell To Replace Greivis Vasquez

The Brooklyn Nets have confirmed that they have waived Grievis Vasquez four months after signing him. Now that the team has an opening for another point guard, it seems the Nets will replace Vasquez by signing Yogi Ferrell.

After his one-year sting with the Milwaukee Bucks, Vasquez signed with the Brooklyn franchise in July of this year. However, he only appeared in three games with the team after suffering an ankle injury. According to insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Vasquez is expected to undergo surgery and will most likely miss out on the rest of the season.

As noted by Sean Marks, the general manager of the Nets, the team supported Vasquez in his return to the court. But, since it was determined that he will no longer be able to contribute to the team, the Brooklyn front office has decided to release him.

"Grievis did everything we asked of him and more to try to get back on the court at full strength," Marks said in a statement. "The passion, grit and perseverance he has shown since he joined the team have been remarkable."

"We are thankful to Greivis for all of his efforts and wish him well in the future," the general manager added.

Following Vasquez' release, the Nets immediately released that they are in dire need of another point guard to boost the team's offense. After all, their star player Jeremy Lin has been absent for some time now after suffering a groin injury. Although it is not yet clear when he will be able to return, he is expected to miss three or more weeks this season.

Due to the need of a new point guard, it seems the Nets have turned to Ferrell to fill this spot.

Ferrell first joined the Nets earlier this year as an undrafted free agent. After appearing in the 2016 NBA Summer League, he officially signed with the team in August.

However, on October 21, he was waived from the roster after appearing in three preseason games. He was retained as an affiliate player of the Nets and was acquired by the Long Island Nets of the Development League.
