NBA Rumors: Cavs Could Trade Kevin Love for Demarcus Cousins

According to recent reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers are targeting to get DeMarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings through a trade. Apparently, it seems the Cavs are willing to offer up Kevin Love in exchange for the center.

Ever since the 2016 NBA season ended, trade rumors have started to plague Love. That's because even though he was part of the group that won the championship, many people didn't view him as a good fit with LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and the rest of the Cavs.

In fact, during the finals series, Love was not able to join Game 3 after being placed on concussion protocol. During his absence, the team was able to secure its first win in the series. However, after he returned in Game 4, the Cavs lost to the Golden State Warriors.

Also, during the course of the series, NBA fans saw how Love struggled to keep up with the rest of the Cavs' starters. Of course, since he has been labeled as the weakest link in the chain, it would not come as a surprise if Cleveland decides to trade him away in exchange for a player who has better chances of fitting in with the team.

According to Inquisitr, one trade for the Cavs is Cousins. Getting the center will surely benefit Cleveland in terms of his performance alone. Last season, he average 26.9 points per game and 11.5 rebounds.

Getting another big man on the team to assist James and Irving will definitely increase the Cavs' chances of successfully defending their title next year.

But then again, the Cavs will probably have to offer another player just to get Cousins since a straight swap with Love doesn't seem fair for the Kings. However, the Sacramento franchise is also in danger of losing Cousins through free agency since he is reportedly not happy with the team's decision to draft another center in the form of Georgios Papagiannis.

"I do my job," Cousins told the Sacramento Bee. "I can't control [the draft]. I can control what I can control."

"I really don't understand it," he added about the Papagiannis draft. "But I do my job."

If Cousins is not happy with the Kings' current roster, then he might consider walking away once he becomes a free agent. Given this situation, it seems the Kings are better off trading him away now for another player than risk losing him without getting nothing in return.
