Chicago Bulls Rumors and News: Jimmy Butler does little to clear up relationship with Derrick Rose HoopXpress/YouTube

The Chicago Bulls are in the midst of figuring out how to regain their former glory following the devastating season they experienced. Their failure to make it to the NBA playoffs 2016 is made worse by the fact that they were strong contenders to dethrone the Cleveland Cavaliers of LeBron James last season. In fact, the leadership of Jimmy Butler and the chemistry of Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson made the Chicago Bulls a formidable team in the past. It appears, however, that the NBA team has fallen on tough times. That is, their entire roster might be up for an overhaul soon.

One of the main NBA stars identified as the cause of the Chicago Bulls' failure to make the NBA playoffs 2016 is Jimmy Butler. A leader who is said to be the replacement of Derrick Rose in the Nikola Mirotic squad, the younger point guard failed to reach the expectations set for him this season. In fact, his lack of chemistry with Rose and rumored refusal to follow the game plan of Fred Hoiberg reportedly cost the Chicago Bulls their playoffs spot.

With these things in mind, it becomes baffling why the Chicago Bulls would choose to keep Butler. While no official confirmation has been released by the NBA team, the point guard has been vocal about his desire to remain with the group. Butler also publicly discussed his offseason plans and ideas on how to get things back on track. Moreover, the move by the Chicago Bulls to pick him as their representative in the draft lottery speaks volumes of their plans regarding his future with the team.

"Yeah, I think so. I definitely do," said Butler when asked if he will still be with the Chicago Bulls next NBA season. He added, "I do think that with the year that we did have last season -- it's unacceptable. So you have to then, truth be told, you got to look at everything. I didn't do my job, so truth be told, can I help this team win? That's the question that's brought up. And I can't be mad at that. You can use whatever you want to use, but we didn't make the playoffs. That's all anybody sees and that rightfully so. So do I think I'm going to be here? Yeah, I think so. But that's just me thinking."

Meanwhile, rumors are rife that this decision to keep Butler does not sit well with other members of the NBA team. Derrick Rose, who had been plagued with injuries in the past, is reportedly looking into new teams. Some of the potential landing spots for the Chicago star include the Dallas Mavericks of Dirk Nowitzki, the Los Angeles Lakers of D'Angelo Russell and the Houston Rockets of James Harden. The Sacramento Kings of DeMarcus Cousins could also be a possible spot.

As for Pau Gasol, rumors are also circulating that the San Antonio Spurs might sign him. The Spanish star will be a smart addition to the team to reinforce the dominance of Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge. The Miami Heat might also look into signing him especially in light of the whole Chris Bosh drama. Gasol could act as the wingman for Dwyane Wade.

What do you think? Is it right for the Chicago Bulls to keep Jimmy Butler? Should they trade Derrick Rose? Has Pau Gasol reached the end of the line in his Chicago Bulls stint?
