NBA Rumors: Houston Rockets Trade TY Lawson; Dwight Howard, James Harden eye Jason Terry Start

Fans and followers of the NBA have dubbed the Houston Rockets as championship contenders before the start of the season. However, the James Harden basketball squad barely made wins as the year progressed. The height of the disappointing performance of the Houston Rockets this season appeared to have been the loss that cost Kevin McHale his job. Earlier this month, the NBA team's executives decided to let go of McHale and assigned JB Bickerstaff as the interim head coach.

However, it looks like the Houston Rockets are not yet done with revamping their team. In the hopes to presumably take the basketball squad off of the losing streak, a roster move had taken effect following the departure of McHale. Starting point guard Ty Lawson was placed on the bench. Surprisingly, veteran Jason Terry was picked to take the former Denver Nuggets' spot in the starting lineup.

"This was not a point the finger at Ty (Lawson), this is not a blame Ty," clarified Bickerstaff, referring to the decision to move the prized acquisition last NBA offseason to the bench, according to The Real GM. The interim head coach added, "This was try to get Ty on the floor more without James (Harden) so the ball can be in his hands to make plays and see if we can get him more comfortable."

For his part, Lawson appeared to be more than eager to accept his new role. The point guard shared that his aim was to contribute to the Houston Rockets' chance of winning. Hence, he is willing to embrace the role assigned to him.

Lawson shared via CBS Sports, "Whatever for the team to win." He went on to point out, "I can come in the second unit and probably have the ball move in my hands and be able to play more to my game." Some sports analysts believe that the chemistry between Lawson and Harden is a bit off. Hence, the entire Houston Rockets squad tend to struggle while on the hardwood court. That is, every member of the team attempts to adjust to the purported uneasy dynamic of the two players.

Meanwhile, Terry is thrilled for the new challenge. Although the role is only temporarily assigned to him, the NBA veteran remains optimistic regarding his contributions to the team. Terry said of the changes, "Whatever they need me to do is what I'm here to do. I'm enjoying it. When I'm not in there, I'm still actively involved, helping guys throughout the game. It's good for me."

At the moment, the Houston Rockets are still dealing with the changes in their basketball squad. Harden though remains positive on the possibility that the group will improve gradually this NBA season.

"We're not winning games, but I think these last couple of days, the energy has been good," shared Harden via Basketball Insiders. He added, "We've been playing much harder now. We got to get our in-game stuff, coverages defensively, we got to get those right. But the effort is there, and I like where our head has been at."
