The announcement of a Rudy Gay exit from the Sacramento Kings confirmed the suspicions of problems plaguing the franchise. With the statement of the All-Star on his plans once he hits free agency, other NBA teams are now scrambling to look into a potential deal for a trade. Among the teams said to be reviewing a Rudy Gay trade option is the Oklahoma City Thunder with Russell Westbrook anticipated to take the lead in recruitment.

The decision of Kevin Durant to move to the Golden State Warriors and join forces with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green stunned the Oklahoma crowd. However, it looks like Russell Westbrook is back on his feet and raring to prove that the Steven Adams squad can survive without KD. Will a Rudy Gay trade make for a good fit in the Oklahoma City Thunder?

"I made the decision to opt out," announced Rudy Gay of his future with the Sacramento Kings. He added, "Whether I sign here, whether I'm here the rest of the season or whether I start here, it's really not up to me. Wherever I am, I'm going play to the best of my ability."

The Sacramento Kings star also clarified his health status after his announcement. As he explained that teams no longer have to worry if he will be missing games this season, a Rudy Gay trade pitch was subtly made. Who will be the takers?

"I'm pain-free," said Rudy Gay. "I'm in the best shape of my life, I'd like to say, and I'm focused. No matter what, I come here to play with my brothers, and that's everybody in that locker room, and we're playing to win."

At the moment, the Sacramento Kings have yet to comment on how they plan to move forward with the future of Rudy Gay and the team. The Oklahoma City Thunder front office has not released any statement regarding the trade rumor as well. However, rumors are rife that Russell Westbrook is eager to sign the star in their roster to add some experience in their lineup. A Rudy Gay trade could also help in the shooting problems expected to be faced by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

What do you think? Should the Oklahoma City Thunder pursue a Rudy Gay trade this season? Will the Sacramento Kings let him go?
