"NCIS" fans will be happy to know that the show is renewed for two more reasons. The lead star and executive producer Mark Harmon will also be staying on for two more years.

Fox 411 reported that on Monday, Feb 29, the CBS announced that fans will not be saying goodbye to the show yet, regardless of how long it already ran. It is currently in its 13th season.

Glenn Geller, President of CBS Entertainment, released in a statement on why NCIS deserves to be extended "as long as possible." She said, "It's extraordinary that in its 13th season and with over 300 episodes to its credit, NCIS continues to excel at such a high level on a global scale." She added,  "It is testimony to an amazing cast, led on and off the screen by the exceptional Mark Harmon, for skillfully bringing this universally appealing team of heroes to life; and to Gary Glasberg and his writers for crafting compelling stories that feature NCIS's signature blend of mystery, quirk, drama and comedy every single week."

Fans could not agree more. Regardless of the renewal for two more seasons, NCIS favorite Michael Weatherly, who played Agent Tony DiNozzo since the series started, will not change his mind about leaving. Back in January, he announced that he will be leaving the show at the end of this season. At the time, Weatherly tweeted to his followers with regard his decision and his feelings about DiNozzo, describing him as "a wonderful, quixotic character," adding, "I couldn't have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons."

According to TVLine, because of Weatherly's departure, the CBS series is looking to add two new actors for season 14. A casting call is already being held by a female agent named Tess. A source close to TVLine revealed that CBS is very particular on the lucky woman to be casted. Allegedly, the network wants someone who can generate great excitement for Season 14.

The source revealed that the network is in search of a truly "wow!" casting. Citing the example of film star Halle Berry transitioning from movies to TV shows with her role in CBS' "Extant," TVLine said that the network wants as much as possible, movie star to play the female agent so that there will be sure viewers on the upcoming season. The actress to play Tess will be a series regular.
