Nintendo’s NES Classic Edition console has been selling so well. However, the company seemed to be unprepared of the demand for their new product. There are still a number of people who are yet to purchase the mini NES. It does not help that most retailers have run out of stock. The NES Classic Edition is bought as soon as it hit the shelves. Fortunately, Target, GameStop, and Best Buy are restocking though limited quantities are available.
Best Buy had already made the public know last week that more than 1,000 of its stores will be selling the NES Classic Edition on Dec. 20. It is a first-come-first-served basis. The retailer did not specify how many items will be sold. They will be giving out a certain number of tickets to those who waited in line. A customer is only allowed to buy one mini NES. Best Buy’s Senior Category Office Amy College previously mentioned that they have been receiving tons of questions on the availability of the console. “Two of the most common questions we’ve gotten this holiday season are, ‘Do you have the NES Classic Edition?’ and ‘When will you get more?’”
In case you are near any Target stores, a spokesman revealed that it will be having more consoles in stock between Tuesday and Thursday this week, according to the Star Tribune. Target is also following Best Buy’s lead of not offering the console online. Customers have to go to the stores to buy one. The spokesman added that the quantities will vary by store.
If you have run out of option, there is also GameStop. According to Thrillist, they will have a stock of NES Classic Edition available for purchase early this week across the country. However, it is unclear when exactly customers can expect for the console to become available. The spokesperson added that it’s a first-come-first-served. Those who are interested in buying from GameStop are advised to contact their local GameStop store regularly. Or you can also check their website at gamestop.com for updates. The video game store assured customers that they will “have a sign displaying the exact number of NES Classic Editions” available before their stores open in the morning.
