It has been a gruelling five years of reality TV where Phil and Miss Kay Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame are concerned, and now that the TV series has come to an end earlier this year, just what is this couple up to? The answer might very well surprise you, as they claimed that their next calling would be to live out life as normal as possible. With Phil Robertson continue to wear his camo outfit, basically being himself, Miss Kay has taken on a more comfortable and laid back look, having to do away with all of the glitz and glamor attached to being a star on reality TV. It seems that both Phil and Miss Kay Robertson are pretty worked up about returning to their normal routine, after so many seasons of reality TV.
Phil shared, "I for one was thankful it ended. There's a lot more to doing these TV shows than most people realize." It is rather obvious that Phil has plans to make a return to duck hunting, enjoying all of the trappings that come with the activity, while Miss Kay has decided to spend more of her time in the kitchen and around the home, dabbling with various recipes while focusing on Southern Hospitality.
This is to be expected, as reality TV does take a toll on all of those involved. Imagine having a camera crew following you around most of the time, and you hardly have any time at all for yourself. When walking with God, it is going to be difficult to carve out the time required to spend time with Jesus before the day begins and overwhelms you, and perhaps this permanent break from reality is more than welcome for the rest of the Robertson clan as well.
Just in case you do not have an idea on the kind of scale that Duck Dynasty operates in, this American reality television series that was shown on A&E for five seasons showcased the lives of the Robertson family. The Robertson family basically ended up with their financial success thanks to their family-operated business known as Duck Commander. Duck Commander is their bread and butter, catering for duck hunters who would love to make use of the duck call that is aptly known as Duck Commander. Grounded in strong Christian beliefs, the Robertson men comprise of brothers Phil and Si, with Phil's sons Jase, Willie, and Jep. Of course, all of them are also famous for their long beards, and you would surely not associate them with terrorism due to their good natured personalities and warm hearts.
To date, Duck Dynasty actually managed to break a slew of ratings records on A&E as well as cable television. In fact, the fourth season premiere managed to draw a whopping 11.8 million viewers; making it the most-watched nonfiction cable series in history back then. However, in the middle of December 2013, there arose a controversy from an interview that Phil Robertson gave to GQ magazine. This controversy apparently touched on Phil Robertson's "anti-gay" views, and this ended up with an indefinite suspension by A&E. There was much public pressure exerted on A&E in order to lift the suspension, where nine days later, he was reinstated to the show.
Just how much of a money spinner was the show? It managed to rack up $80 million in advertising sales within the first nine months of 2013, while all merchandise from the TV series managed to rack up another whopping $400 million in revenue. The final episode of the series came to a close on March 29, 2017, where the hour-long finale was aptly titled "End of an Era".
