New England Patriots Tom Brady Almost Became the Quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers

As the New England Patriots prepare to face off against the San Francisco 49ers for Week 11, Tom Brady looks back on the time when he almost played quarterback for the latter. The upcoming game between the two franchise marks the first time Brady will play against the 49ers in a road game in San Francisco.

As a kid living in San Mateo, Brady looked up to the 49ers as his idols. As early as 4 years old, he has always been a fan of the San Francisco squad.
Back in 2000, he finally got the opportunity to join the team. However, as NFL fans know, the 49ers decided to go in a different path and selected Giovanni Carmazzi over him as the team's 3rd-round draft pick.

As noted by Brady, this is what motivated him to work hard for the Patriots, the team he has been playing ever since he joined the NFL.

"I have different things that have motivated me at different times," he said according to the Niners Nation. "Yeah, I mean, I‘ll never forget I worked out for the 49ers back when I was coming out in 2000."

"They obviously went in a different direction," he added. "I'm very happy where I ended up. And I think I was very fortunate to be at the right place at the right time with the Patriots."

On Sunday, Brady, with the rest of the Patriots, will be facing off against the 49ers at the Levi Stadium. After playing in 230 games in his entire career in the NFL, this will be the first time that he will face the 49ers in the area where he grew up.

"I've never had a chance to play in front of my family like this," he said according to the San Francisco Gate. "I've never had the chance to play in front of my friends. Growing up in the Bay Area, and loving football, that was a great time for me to grow up."

Currently, the Patriots, under the leadership of Brady, are one of the best offensive teams in the league. It's probably safe to say that the 49ers, which are coming from an 8-game losing streak, will have a very hard time deflecting the advances of the Patriots.
