New Galaxy S8 (SM-G892A) Model Benchmark Spotted, Launch Imminent?

Samsung Galaxy S8 to get a new model refresh soon
Is there a new Galaxy S8 model in the pipeline? Perhaps, as the hardware of the SM-892A spotted in a benchmark on Geekbench certainly points to a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Geekbench

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is barely half a year old, and there is a new model in the pipeline that will update on its hardware specifications. A little bit hard to believe, is it? However, this might just turn out to be true, as a benchmark on Geekbench has been spotted that showcases the SM-892A model number. The kind of benchmark results that the SM-892A delivers has certainly outpaced the current Samsung flagship smartphone, and then some, which means that the hardware is being tested by folks outside of Samsung before it is being released. Some do claim that the SM-892A is actually the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, but we still cannot be too sure until an official announcement is made on the matter.

From the revealed benchmark, it points to a single-core score of 1,842, while racking up 6,394 points for its multi-core score. Running on Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box, we would not be surprised to see it arrive with Android 7.1.1 Nougat in order to keep up to date, not to mention having the latest monthly Android security update. The Samsung SM-892A will be powered by an octa-core 1.90GHz processor from Qualcomm, while featuring 3GB of RAM. Could this be the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, or will it be a refreshed version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 to help it maintain its edge in the market? Hopefully the SM-892A will not arrive with burn-in screen issues though.

With the Samsung Galaxy S8 (as well as its larger sized sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus) was introduced to the masses earlier this April 2017, Samsung is back with a bang after the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 release which resulted in a global flight ban for the phablet. The Galaxy S8’s status as the undisputed Android-powered flagship even right now underlines Samsung’s strength in the matter, despite having a few other flagship models from different smartphone manufacturers making their way to the market.

Not only that, Samsung certainly pulled all of the stops when it comes to design of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, offering an Infinity Display that will surely please even the most hardened skeptics. While industry watchers and smartphone users alike are looking forward to the iPhone 8, assuming leaked images of the iPhone 8 end up in the final model, Samsung would have no trouble picking up the non-official trophy of being 2017’s best smartphone design.

Regardless of whether the SM-892A is an updated version of the Galaxy S8, or will be the Galaxy S8 Active instead, consumers would most probably want to see a hardier version hit the market. The Galaxy S8 has not fared too well in terms of its technical design, no thanks to the front and back portions that have plenty of glass all around. This is a flagship device that you would not want to risk dropping.

Assuming that the SM-892A is actually the Galaxy S8 Active, this would make plenty of sense. After all, Samsung revived the tradition of the Active branch of its flagship smartphone, and it would be a disservice to the Galaxy S7 Active if there was no 2017 update for the model. One does wonder whether there will be such a model as the Galaxy Note 8 Active, but only time will tell. We do expect that the SM-892A will end up with a battery that is solid and stable enough not to spontaneously combust .

There is no official word on when the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will be introduced to different worldwide markets, but it would not be too long now.
