NFL News: Carolina Panthers Eye Nate Askew; Cam Newton Welcomes Ex St Louis Rams TE

The Carolina Panthers have been a breakout team this NFL season. With practically all sports analysts predicting that the Cam Newton football squad will once again be a joke this NFL season, the Carolina Panthers proved them wrong by winning almost half the games in its division. In fact, the Carolina Panthers is one of the five football teams that have yet to taste defeat this NFL season. 

Alongside Cam Newton's squad are Tom Brady's New England Patriots, Aaron Rodgers' Green Bay Packers, Andy Delton's Cincinnati Bengals and Peyton Manning's Denver Broncos. Hence, it could be said that the critics of the Carolina Panthers have been silenced for now especially with the recent victories of the Cam Newton squad over the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Carolina Panthers will face off against the Indianapolis Colts for Week 8 of the NFL season. Scheduled on Monday (November 2) at 9:30 pm ET, the Andrew Luck football squad will storm the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte to deliver hopefully the first defeat to the Cam Newton team. With Andrew Luck back in the Indianapolis Colts roster, the Carolina Panthers are set to face one of the most notable quarterbacks in the NFL.

In an effort to further boost the football team, the Carolina Panthers signed Nate Askew to its practice squad earlier this week. The tight end entered the NFL team following the departure of Scott Simonson, who was previously promoted to the 53-man roster of the Carolina Panthers. Simonson's promotion came after the football team lost veteran Richie Brockel to injury. Meanwhile, the newly minted member of the Carolina Panthers practice squad is an undrafted free agent from Texas A&M University. Last year, Nate Askew had been playing for the Tennessee Titans as well as the St Louis Rams. He then held the linebacker post. As for his stint with the university, the former Texas A&M University star played as a wide receiver.

At this point in the NFL season, the Carolina Panthers have managed to gain some Super Bowl buzz from experts in the football community.

"[T]he Panthers as a whole are getting it done. While people will mention a fairly easy schedule, the Panthers should be applauded for beating teams they should beat early in the season," noted Scott Davis of the Business Insider. The sports commentator further shared, "While the Panthers aren't quite on the level of teams like the Patriots, Packers, Bengals, or Broncos - the other four undefeated teams - they should be earning the rest of the league's respect."
