The Denver Broncos are facing two issues this NFL season. The first concern involves the allegations against Peyton Manning's usage of the prohibited drug, HGH. The next issue sees the conundrum that also has Manning in the middle. Due to his injury, backup Brock Osweiler showed off in the highly anticipated match against the New England Patriots. As of late, sports analysts have dubbed the Denver Broncos as Osweiler's team now. With these developments, the NFL team has yet to decide on Manning's future.
The HGH issue came out following the release of taped conversations with a dope source who claimed to have been the supplier of Manning's HGH. The insider is a purported employee from the Guyer Institute named Charlie Sly. While the NFL MVP vehemently denied these reports, the Al Jazeera reporter and the entire news organization stand by their expose. As of the writing, Sly has also issued a statement recanting his words to the Al Jazeera reporter. Even Dr. Gale Guyer himself denied the claims made by the media organization.
"It stings me, whoever this guy is, to insinuate that I cut corners, I broke NFL rules in order to get healthy," said Manning, according to ESPN. "It's a joke. It's a freaking joke."
The hard evidence gathered by the news agency makes it difficult for Manning to refute the allegations. Nonetheless, the Denver Broncos issued a statement expressing support for their star quarterback.
"Knowing Peyton Manning and everything he stands for, the Denver Broncos support him 100 percent," stated the NFL team. The Denver Broncos added, "These are false claims made to Al Jazeera, and we don't believe the report. Peyton is rightfully outraged by the allegations, which he emphatically denied to our organization and which have been publicly renounced by the source who initially provided them."
Apart from the Denver Broncos, Manning also gained support from his former NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts. The Andrew Luck squad expressed their complete and confident belief in Manning's integrity and love for football. In addition to these NFL teams, New England Patriots star Tom Brady also openly declared his respect and admiration for the Denver Broncos star.
"We've been made aware of the recent Al Jazeera report concerning Peyton Manning and find it utterly ridiculous," disclosed the official Colts' statement. They went on to state, "We are thoroughly familiar with Peyton's tireless work habits, his medical history, and, most importantly, his integrity. Peyton played the game in Indianapolis for 14 years the right way. He never took any shortcuts, and it would be absurd to suggest he would have taken prohibited performance-enhancing drugs. We also note that the 'source' of this allegation has since recanted his story. The entire Indianapolis Colts organization and the Irsay family hope this crude effort to besmirch Peyton's reputation will not be permitted to tarnish the legacy of a great Colt."
Meanwhile, the starting quarterback position has yet to be resolved by the Denver Broncos. Although Osweiler has been reported injured, the latest update states that he remains the lead quarterback in the NFL. This decision undoubtedly raises questions about Manning's standing. Will the latest scandal finally end the NFL MVP's football career?
