By having the quarterback in their roster, the Carolina Panthers become a formidable threat to its NFL rivals. Cam Newton has been known as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL due to his size and capacity to move in the field. His swift and grace, along with his resolute stance when issuing plays, make Cam Newton a fearsome foe to face in the football field. In response to this, the Jacksonville Jaguars developed a "tackling plan" to hopefully curb the performance of the Carolina Panthers quarterback.

He shared, "Not only do you have to have a tackling plan for the running backs, but what made the game unique was you had to have a tackling plan for him because of his size and ability to run. You surely didn't want him [Cam Newton] to extend plays or have the ball in his hands."

The Jacksonville Jaguars are entering the Week 1 of the NFL regular season brandishing a 17 - 16 victory over the Washington Redskins gained during the fourth week of the preseason games. The match against the Washington Redskins saw 16 out of 25 passes completed by Stephen Morris for 160 yards. Apart from these, Morris also managed to pitch in one touchdown - a move that pushed the Jacksonville Jaguars to the lead position.
