The San Diego Chargers suffered a devastating loss in the hands of the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football. With a final score of 37-29, the San Diego Chargers are now at 2-5 this NFL season. For Week 8 though, the NFL team will face a football squad with a more problematic standing: the Baltimore Ravens. As the Joe Flacco team enters Week 8 of the NFL regular season, the group stands at 1-6 following a confusing and hard fought game against the Arizona Cardinals last Monday as well. The San Diego Chargers will face off on Sunday (November 1) at 2:00 pm ET. The Eric Weddle squad will be visiting the Baltimore Ravens at the MT&T Bank Stadium for the matchup.

Tuesday saw the entry of Joe Mays to the San Diego Chargers locker room. Signed to boost the defense of the NFL team, the linebacker's addition to the group prompted the departure of JD Walton. The former Philadelphia Eagles star is a veteran linebacker was the sixth round pick of the Sam Bradford football team. From the 69 games he had played in his career, Joe Mays was chosen as a starting player in 38. The North Dakota State linebacker currently holds a record of 211 total number of tackles. Apart from the Philadelphia Eagles, Joe Mays also played for the Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Jets and the Denver Broncos.

While the newly minted member of the San Diego Chargers is expected to adjust to his new NFL team, this may not be quite as challenging for Joe Mays. The linebacker worked with two of the coaches in the San Diego Chargers. Head coach Mike McCoy had been with the Denver Broncos when Joe Mays played for the NFL team in 2011. As for Bobby King, the assistant linebackers coach, the NFL athlete had worked with him in 2013 while he was with the Houston Texans. It is widely believed that the entry of the former Philadelphia Eagles star to the San Diego Chargers roster had been prompted by the increasing number of injured linebackers in Eric Weedle's team.

"Truth is, football players get hurt," noted Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union Tribune. The sports commentator added, "And Chargers inside linebackers have taken numerous injuries. All five inside linebackers on the roster have worked with the defense this year. The leader in snaps is Donald Butler with 333. Te'o has 296 snaps, Perryman 65 and Kavell Conner 59."
