Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan blamed the Week 9 loss at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks to the poor officiating by the referees. He also had a heated exchange with Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman after he brought down Bills kicker Dan Carpenter.

Many of the bizarre moments of the game occurred before the first half ended. One of those involves Sherman as he crashed on Carpenter as the Bills were attempting to make a field goal. Many, including Dean Blandino, the vice president of officiating for the NFL, believed that Sherman should have been called out for unnecessary roughness. However, no flag was thrown following Sherman's hit on Carpenter.

Following the incident, Ryan delivered some choice words to Sherman.

"He's mean mugging like he's always doing and whatever," the coach said after the game. "Guy's a great player, but he does, you know. I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought, I thought he roughed our kicker."

"It was a ridiculous play, no question," he added. "Then he's over on the sideline basically taunting us, so I had some words. I think I said ‘You're too good a player to act like an ass.' I think that's what I said."

Pete Carroll, coach of the Seattle franchise, on the other hand, didn't appreciate what Ryan said about Sherman. According to Carroll, Ryan should just focus on watching over his players instead of criticizing their opponents.

"I just wish he's coach his own team," Carroll said. "Just coach your own guys."

Carroll then maintained that Sherman's actions against Carpenter were clean since he was not called out by the referees.

The recent match between the Seahawks and the Bills was certainly a very controversial one. If it weren't for Sherman's hit on Carpenter, the Buffalo franchise wouldn't have been forced to re-kick the ball and missed the field goal.

This would have given the Bills additional points and a fighting chance to stay on the game until it ended. It would have also given the team a chance to land a game-tying field goal in the fourth quarter.
