As the start of the NFL season draws nearer, teams vying for the Super Bowl title are now scrambling to ensure that the roster of players they have getting in the games could bolters their chances of bringing home the championship. As such, cuts and trades had been the theme the entire NFL offseason - with even the most season players being let go by their respective teams. The latest NFL star to bid goodbye to his team is Nate Boyer.

According to ESPN, the 34-year-old ex-US Army Green Beret vet exited the Seattle Seahawks clubhouse on Tuesday. The report revealed that the long snapper was let go by the NFL team to make way for quarterback Jake Waters in the Seattle Seahawks roster. The decision came following the injury incurred by backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. The backup of Russell Wilson suffered a high ankle sprain and is reported to be out in the next two weeks.

With the news of Boyer's departure from the Seahawks, the long snapper told his fans and followers that they should not be saddened by the decision of the NFL team as he had a really good run with Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and the rest of the group. He posted on social media, "Just don't go feelin sorry for me people! I've been given more opportunities than most, especially those overseas."

The former Seattle Seahawks star went on to say, via ESPN, that the mere opportunity to be able to call himself an NFL player made him blessed and privileged. He added, "It might not be over, but if it is, I'm good with that." With his age and the current competition in the free agency roster, Boyer shared that he is amenable to the possibility that the departure from Seattle could be the end of his NFL career.

"He's just a phenomenal person, and he's a competitor, and he's tough and he represents a lot of really, really cool things that, quite frankly, I think would be really good for a lot of us to be around," said Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider. He added, "And he runs down and covers kicks, and he's really made himself into a legitimate snapper at Texas."

Meanwhile, the world of fantasy football revealed that Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson landed the third spot among all the NFL players in his position in terms of points garnered According to NFL insider KC Joyner, Russell Wilson achieved career highs in the past NFL season for passing yards (3,475), rushing touchdowns (6), rushing yards (849) and rushing attempts (118).  

However, Joyner points out that the record high set by the Seattle Seahawks star will only go downhill this NFL season. With the current record of Russell Wilson and that maintained by current Seahawks leader Marshawn Lynch, it could be possible for the NFL quarterback to catch up with the performance record of the latter. While it could be expected that the Seattle Seahawks quarterback will exhibit a decline in his numbers in fantasy football, it is projected that it would be highly unlikely for him to fall below the top five in the NFL players.
