The Seattle Seahawks have been struggling since the beginning of the current NFL regular season. The first main football star who posed problems was Kam Chancellor. The safety's absence in the Seattle Seahawks games in the earlier part of the NFL season and throughout the preseason further accentuated his importance in the Russell Wilson squad.

Following the return of Kam Chancellor, the Seattle Seahawks once again suffered another setback as Marshawn Lynch incurred an injury that will reportedly cost him a number of football matches this NFL season. Presumably, the absence of Marshawn Lynch in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals cost the Seattle Seahawks yet another loss this NFL season.

"He actually did get a little work, and he is running very well, however, it's just two weeks now and he's just getting over it," shared Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, referring to the status of Marshawn Lynch prior to the Sunday game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

"We've seen some guys around the league try to come back; he could try to come back and play, but we think he'd be vulnerable. He needs another weekend to get through it, then by next week, by Wednesday or something, we think we can get him going again. He's just about over the hump. He has worked very diligently to get it done, so we're just going to have to wait a couple more days. He's very close, but we can't guarantee he would make it through the game, so that means we'd be set back again, so we're just going to wait it out and see if we can get him right next week," said Carroll. 

Apart from Marshawn Lynch, the Seattle Seahawks missed Marcus Burley due to a hand injury as well as Tharold Simon because of toe damage.

With the absence of Tharold Simon, Russell Wilson and Kam Chancellor welcomed Rod Smith in place of the injured Seattle Seahawks cornerback. Tharold Simon is currently under the injured reserve category while Rod Smith takes his spot as an active member of the 53-man roster of the Seattle Seahawks. The move to give the starting post to Rod Smith came in part following the hamstring injury of Marshawn Lynch and the subsequent ankle damage incurred by backup Fred Jackson. Rod Smith is an undrafted rookie star fresh off the Ohio State.
