The Dallas Cowboys are strikingly different from the team they were last NFL season when Tony Romo had been lead quarterback. With the surprising performance of Dak Prescott, the Ezekiel Elliot team is now the top contender in the NFC East. However, many believe that the Dez Bryant group still does not have what it takes to be Super Bowl champions.

The Dak Prescott season stats this year have shocked the football community especially in light of the Dallas Cowboys' decision to stick with him despite the Tony Romo injury already resolved. However, experts are now urging NFL owner Jerry Jones to make the switch from the rookie to the veteran quarterback to ensure that their hard-earned season wins won't go to waste. To the dismay of fans though, the Dallas Cowboys exec still chooses to stick with the younger quarterback.

Rumors are rife that the Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo have reached an understanding over the veteran's future. The NFL team reportedly agreed with the quarterback that he would sit out the season unless the rookie becomes unavailable. This arrangement would be beneficial to both parties as any Tony Romo injury scare would be prevented. Hence, the Dallas Cowboys could use him as a valuable trading chip come the deadline.

With this in mind, speculations are flying that Jerry Jones still wants a veteran quarterback in his roster. Despite the phenomenal Dak Prescott season stats before him, the Dallas Cowboys would remain in need of a leader who has years of experience in the gridiron under his belt. This is where the Michael Vick contract talks come in.

While the Dallas Cowboys could never be described as a Michael Vick team, the veteran quarterback is anticipated to have a huge impact in the NFL team if the rumored contract pushes through. In fact, experts have compared the Dak Prescott season stats as well as those from Ezekiel Elliot to the performance of Michael Vick in the past.

"I compared Ezekiel [Elliot] to Michael Vick when Michael Vick was in the league," shared Joe Theismann. He added, "I don't think defenses really, really think he's as fast as he is. He gets outside against more teams. I think the linebackers, the ends and the safeties just feel like he's big guy and he's not going to have that speed outside. But he does. And Michael Vick was that way."

If the Dallas Cowboys eventually become a Michael Vick team, then the two rookies could benefit greatly from his experience. Moreover, the veteran quarterback would have zero expectations of eventually taking over the team. Hence, Dak Prescott could hone his skills in peace and without the fear of losing his starting job.
