Although Tony Romo's condition is now improving, the Dallas Cowboys will most likely not make him their starting quarterback especially given the way Dak Prescott is leading the team. Instead, once his back has fully healed, the team could resort to trading him to the Denver Cowboys for Paxton Lynch.

Romo suffered a serious back injury during the preseason. In response to the situation, the Cowboys promoted Prescott as the team's new starting quarterback. Under his command, Prescott was able to lead the team to five consecutive victories following Week 1.

But, earlier this week, the Cowboys announced that Romo is already on his way to fully recovering. Although he probably will not play in the upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles after bye week, the team is confident that he will be able to bounce back this year.

However, even if Romo returns to his top physical condition, Dallas might not reinstate him as the team's starting. Instead, they might retain Prescott as the Cowboys' main passer and trade Romo instead. Given Prescott's current performance, the Cowboys will most likely prolong his stay at the No. 1 position.

One possible candidate for the Cowboys is Lynch, the backup quarterback for the Broncos. As a first round pick during the 2016 draft, Lynch certainly has a lot of potential in playing the starter spot. Unfortunately, he was edged out by Trevor Siemian during team competitions in the offseason.

Still though, as a backup QB, he serves as a strong insurance policy for the Broncos in case something happens to Siemian. This particular factor is very favorable for the Cowboys. By getting Lynch for their roster, they will be able to create a very solid quarterback lineup behind Prescott.

The Broncos, on the other hand, will gain a veteran QB in the form of Romo who could possibly serve as a mentor to Siemian. But, given Romo's past injury and his age, he will probably not be the Broncos' No. 2 QB. Instead, he could get push back as a third-stringer behind Siemian and Austin Davis.
