Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the Buffalo Bills have placed Eric Wood on the team's injured reserve. In order to fill the team's 53-man roster, the Bills then promoted Marcus Roberson from the practice squad.

Wood broke his leg during the Bills' Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Then, during the team's bye week, he underwent surgery for his injured leg.

Originally, Wood was expected to miss a couple of weeks as he recovers. He was even confident that he will be able to shorten the timetable for his return. However, after looking into his condition, the Bills and head coach Rex Ryan decided to place him on injured reserve.

"I haven't checked with the docs, I just know what they told me, that these things take a while to heal obviously, but that's Eric for you," Ryan said. "I mean Eric wants to be out there in the worst way and clearly as a team, we would want that also."

"But not jeopardizing him, he's got to be ready, but I love his attitude," he added.

Being on the injured reserve could mean that Wood will most likely miss out on the rest of the season with the team. It seems the team is also aware of this which is why Roberson has been officially transferred to the active roster from the practice squad.

But, Roberson was not brought in to serve as the replacement for Wood since he will still take on his cornerback slot. Instead, his backup Patrick Lewis will probably serve as the new starting center for the team for the remainder of the season or until Wood's return.

Following Roberson's promotion, the Bills signed free agent Dalton Freeman to the practice squad. Before joining the Bills, Freeman played for the Houston Texans for a year before he was waived earlier in September due to an injury.

As for the rest of the Bills, Wood's long absence will certainly have a huge impact on the team's performance, especially now that they are facing a 3-game losing streak. Hopefully, the team will be able to bounce back following their bye week when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 20.
